Kleana is an introduction platform

Kleana Africa is operated by Cabanga Platforms, a division of Cabanga Africa (Pty) Ltd, of Plot 9256, Mogoditshane Block 9, Kweneng, Botswana. Kleana introduces households, offices and businesses to cleaners, nannies, housekeepers and supply businesses. It is not an employer, not a labour broker, not a payroll agent and not a party to any agreement reached between two people introduced through it.

Where an introduction leads to an engagement, that engagement is between the household or business and the cleaner directly. They set their own terms, they pay each other directly, and Kleana takes no share of any wage at any point.

What verification does and does not mean

A listing marked Declared means the person completed the form, confirmed an email address by one-time code, and accepted the Professional Charter. It is that person's own account of themselves and Kleana has not checked it.

A listing marked Kleana Verified means a person here has seen an identity document and has spoken to at least one former employer to confirm the period worked. That is a check of identity and of stated history at a point in time. It is not a criminal record check, not a guarantee of conduct, not a warranty of the quality of any work, and not a prediction of how any person will behave in future. Anyone hiring through Kleana should exercise the same judgement they would exercise hiring anyone.

The Charter does not replace the law

The Professional Charter is a code of conduct between people using this platform. Nothing in it reduces any right or obligation either side has under the Employment Act of Botswana, the Basic Conditions of Employment Act of South Africa, the Labour Act of Zimbabwe, the Employment Code Act of Zambia, or any other law applying where the work is done. Where the law requires more than the Charter does, the law applies. Nothing on this site is legal advice and nobody should treat it as a substitute for advice from a qualified practitioner in their own country.

Rates, fees and currency

Rates published on listings are set by the people who placed them and are indicative. Fees for an introduction are confirmed before anything is unlocked and nothing is charged automatically. Amounts across the platform are pegged in United States dollars; conversions shown in pula, rand, Zimbabwe gold or kwacha are a courtesy, are drawn from a third-party rate that Kleana does not control, and are not an offer at that rate. The dollar figure is the one that binds.

The Shop

Kleana holds no stock, takes no payment and ships nothing. Items described as made by Kleana are manufactured and filled under contract and sold by arrangement following an enquiry. Items marked as coming are not manufactured and registering interest in one is not an order, creates no obligation on either side and results in no charge. Supply businesses listed in the Shop are independent third parties; an enquiry is passed to them and any sale is a matter between them and the buyer. Kleana is not the seller, gives no warranty over third-party goods and takes no margin on them.

Agents

An agent listed on Kleana is an independent business owner, not an employee, agent in law, partner or representative of Kleana, Cabanga Platforms or Cabanga Africa (Pty) Ltd, and has no authority to bind any of them. An agent may never charge a cleaner any amount, for any reason. Kleana removes agents who do.

The magazine

Editorial published by Kleana and carried across the Cabanga Africa Group editions is general commentary on the domestic and cleaning trade. It is not advice on any particular arrangement, and figures quoted in it describe what was observed at the time of writing.

Availability and third parties

This site is provided as it stands. Kleana does not warrant that it will be available without interruption or free of error, and is not liable for loss arising from an inability to reach it. The site links to and relies on third-party services, including WhatsApp, Google Workspace and a public exchange-rate feed; Kleana does not control those services and is not responsible for them.

Limits

To the fullest extent the law allows, Kleana, Cabanga Platforms and Cabanga Africa (Pty) Ltd are not liable for any loss, damage, injury or cost arising out of an engagement between two parties introduced through this platform, out of the conduct of any person using it, or out of goods supplied by a third party listed on it. Nothing in this disclaimer excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Reporting

If something on this platform is wrong, out of date or being misused, tell us and a person will look at it. Serious breaches of the Charter remove a party from Kleana.
