For homeowners

Someone in your home you have actually checked

You are not paying for a cleaner. She is not ours to sell. You are paying for the work of finding her, checking her, and standing behind the check.

Put Kleana on your phone. It opens like an app and works when the signal is poor.

Tell us who you shortlisted

Send this and Kleana confirms the fee with you, then puts you in touch on WhatsApp. Nothing is charged before you have agreed it.

The six-digit code goes here. Nothing is saved until you type it back.

These came across from your shortlist. Nothing to copy out - remove any you changed your mind about, and tell us the rest in the box below.

Two different arrangements

Live-out and live-in are not the same deal

Treating them as one is where most households come unstuck. Kleana splits them at the door.

The fees

Once. Not every month.

Listing is free for the cleaner and Kleana takes nothing from her pay. The household carries the cost of curation, and carries it once.

Tier one

Standard introduction

Unlocks the contact details of a Declared cleaner so you can speak to her directly and agree your own terms.

  • Her email has been confirmed by a one-time code
  • She has accepted the Professional Charter
  • Identity and references are her own account, not ours
  • Once-off fee, confirmed with you before anything is unlocked
Tier two

Kleana Verified

Unlocks a cleaner whose identity document we have seen and whose former employer we have spoken to ourselves.

  • Omang or passport sighted by us
  • At least one long-term reference called and confirmed
  • Confirmed tenure published on the listing
  • Higher once-off fee, confirmed before anything is unlocked
Add-on

Contract drafting

Optional, and worth it for live-in especially. Kleana supplies a standard written agreement built for Botswana, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia - salary, hours, accommodation, leave and notice.

  • Written terms both sides sign
  • Removes the single biggest cause of live-in disputes
  • Priced separately from the introduction

A template, not legal advice. Have it checked by your own lawyer if the arrangement is complicated.

Rules of engagement

What you agree to when you use Kleana

The Charter is not a formality and it does not only bind the cleaner. Using this platform as a household means accepting all of it.

A homeowner and a cleaner sitting at a table, both signing the same page
01Pay what was agreed, on time

The rate published on the listing is the rate. Late payment is a Charter breach, not an inconvenience.

02Keep it professional

No comments on her body, no propositions, no touching, no expectation of anything beyond the work agreed. This is the clause the platform exists for.

03Agree changes before they happen

Extra rooms, extra hours, extra children, a move from cleaning to childcare - all of it is renegotiated, not assumed.

04Provide the basics

Clean drinking water, a place to sit and eat, and use of a toilet. For live-in arrangements, private accommodation and a full day off each week.

05Give notice

If it is not working, say so and give notice. Households that dismiss without notice can be removed from Kleana.

Choose the arrangement first

Live-out and live-in, compared

Pick the arrangement before you pick the person. The two are governed differently and paid differently.

Getting someone into your home, step by step

  1. Register and accept the CharterYour email is confirmed by a one-time code before anything is stored. The Charter binds you as tightly as it binds her.
  2. Filter the listings to your area and arrangementEvery listing shows the area, the duties, the arrangement and the verification level. No names, no photographs.
  3. Shortlist on the work, not on the personCompare duties, availability and confirmed tenure. A Verified listing means a person here saw the identity document and called a former employer.
  4. Pay the once-off introduction feeThe fee is confirmed to you before anything unlocks. Nothing is charged for browsing or shortlisting.
  5. Get introduced on WhatsAppKleana puts the two of you in touch and steps back. You agree your own days, duties and pay directly.
  6. Write the terms down before the first dayDays, hours, duties, pay and time off, agreed in writing. That is the Charter's second clause and it prevents most of what goes wrong later.
