Standards
What is a cleaner responsible for in someone's home?
To arrive when agreed or send word in good time, to do the work to the standard agreed, to care for the home and its privacy and remove nothing, and to bring nobody onto the property without agreement.
Put Kleana on your phone. It opens like an app and works when the signal is poor.
Clause 4 of the Charter
The plain answer
The Charter binds the cleaner as tightly as it binds the household, and clause four is her side of it. Arrive when agreed - or, when that is genuinely not possible, send word in good time rather than leaving a household waiting. Do the work that was agreed, to the standard that was agreed.
Inside the home, the duties are as much about trust as about cleaning. Treat the home, its contents and its privacy with care, and remove nothing. Bring nobody else onto the property without the household's agreement - a home is not a place to host. Behave professionally throughout, the same standard the household is held to.
And the same notice rule cuts both ways: a cleaner gives the agreed notice before ending an engagement, rather than simply not arriving one morning. These are not onerous terms - they are what any professional owes a client. Setting them down plainly means a good cleaner is judged on the work, not on someone else's bad experience.
